About MatchMaker Tennis >> Tennis Formats >> Mixed Doubles

We offer the most fun mixed doubles around.

Grouped by similar skill level, our mixed double teams consist of 2 men and 2 women per team. The team captain determines who plays each week. Each team member plays a least 6 of 9 weeks.

In the case of Queen City teams, each division has 4 men and 4 women. Queen City League Rules Apply To the MMT/QC teams.

Team Matches

A mixed doubles team match consists 4 sets. 2 sets played on each of 2 side by side courts. You play 1 set with one team member then switch to play the second set with a different teammate.

Cumulative Scoring for Teams

To ease the pressures of competitive tennis, MatchMaker uses a cumulative scoring format. The match winner is determined by totaling the games won during all six sets. The team with most games won that day, wins the match. This cumulative scoring allows a team to compensate for weaker players or "bad days". Our intent is to play tennis for fun, and to prevent fiercely competitive one sided matches. Cumulative scoring allows any team to have a fair chance at winning up through the end of the season. Each week the scores will be updated on the web site to keep all players abreast of the standings.

In the event of a 6-6 set score tie, the standard 12 point tiebreaker is used, 1 game is added to the tiebreaker winner and reported as 7-6

If a match ends with a tied score, a tiebreaker is played and 1 game is added to the winning team's score.
